Gospel of John Bible Study – John 4:43-54

Miraculous Signs

Read: John 4:43-54

Focus: Has there ever been a time in your life when you met someone famous?

Inform

  1. Jesus pointed out that a prophet has no honour in his own country.  (He was likely referring to the region of Galilee within which he grew up.)  Why possible reasons might there be for this?
  2. When the royal official whose son was sick came to Jesus, Jesus said, “Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders, you will never believe.”  (See 1 Corinthians 1:22 “Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom,”)  Perhaps Jesus was checking the motives of the royal official.  What would have been a bad motive to approach Jesus?  Does that happen today?
  3. What was the motivation of the royal official?
  4. What did Jesus do?
  5. What happened?
  6. What was the result?
